I had the opportunity to review a couple products from
Southern Magnolia Minerals. Southern Magnolia Minerals is a family owned and operated mineral makeup company located in the foothills of North Carolina.
I got in touch with Southern Magnolia Minerals and was given the chance to review a couple products from their cosmetic line. I was actually very happy with the company because they were so quick to answer any questions or concerns I had. To top off that shipping was extremely fast. I think I waited to receive these products just over the weekend.
I received the tiny packaged wrapped in an envelope that had bubble wrapping to ensure that their products don’t get ruined during the trip to the customer. I then opened up the envelope and the makeup was inside this tiny black bag. It had two cards inside one with the information about the makeup, and the other was a discount card for 10% off next purchased items. However, I didn’t take a picture of the discount card.
In the beginning I was both excited and hesitant to try new products because my skin is very dry and sensitive. I can’t really take chances with my skin because I’m so badly allergic to everything, well almost.
Here are the products that I chose:
The two shadows I initially picked were cream shadow and pinched blush. These two shadows are starter sizes. They’re a gram each in size, and the actual size for the shadows are 2.8 grams. I apologize that my pictures don’t provide the colors justice, but they’re absolutely gorgeous. The colors I chose are matte. I don’t own many matte shades and therefore wanted to choose shades I can wear on the daily.
I also received a sample shade called blue slate. It’s also a matte shade which I absolutely love. I think I want to purchase it once I run out. The best part about these products is that a little goes a long way. You don’t have to constantly keep packing color on to your brush just to get something.
I personally love that the blush is a multi-purpose use product. I can use it eyeshadow or blush.
The prices for the regular sized shadows range fom $12-14.00USD. However, I checked the site and all their products are on sale at the moment from 10-20% off. You should act now and try it out.
The foundation I chose was the Diva Defense Sheer Coverage Mineral Foundation in BUTTERNUT. The color is for light-medium complexions. I was also hesitant at first to get foundation online because I was so unsure if it would match up to my shade. What I liked about the foundation was that it matched me perfectly. The shade definitely matches my light olive skin tone and it’s a bit translucent so it’s not heavy on the face. It’s completely light weight and I don’t feel like I’m wearing makeup at all.
As far as the shadows go I love them too. I love the matte colors and that a little product goes a long way. Overall, I give this product an A+. I absolutely love that my face hasn’t had an allergic reaction to the product. Believe me I get horrible, horrible reactions with almost anything including MAC. I am very glad that this product hasn’t done any damage to my face.
My skin is usually very dry and I don’t usually recommend mineral makeup for people with dry skin. However, from what I’m seeing it’s done wonders for my face. I feel like my makeup is so much brighter! To top off the fact that I feel like it’s a ton lighter. If you have allergic reactions like I do this would be a great alternative to using makeup.
I was not compensated for this review. This review was strictly my views and opinions about the company.
